THE ACCU-CUT ADVANTAGE

Accu-Cut has designed and built affordable, customized, turnkey, single pass honing machines for 30 yrs. Here is how Accu-Cut compares to competitive honing technology.

ACCU-CUT

Accu-Cut is the industry leader in single pass honing tool innovation, developing the longest lasting tools through superior engineering.

  • Accu-Cut tools are designed to remove the amount of stock your application requires and process materials from very soft (low carbon steel, lead-free bronze, plastics, etc.) to very hard (carbides, ceramics, heat treated steels, etc.).

  • Accu-Cut tools are engineered specifically for your application to be the longest lasting and yield the lowest per piece cost.

  • Accu-Cut tools are designed to generate your required surface texture and meet your geometric requirements for size, roundness, straightness, cylindricity, and runout.

  • Accu-Cut tools and process can follow the incoming bore position, generate bore to datum perpendicularity, or establish final bore position; depending on what your application requires.

THE COMPETITION

Competitive honing tools have limitations in tool life and performance due to the use of small crystals, poor chip management in their tool designs, and loading/glazing issues.  Their tooling is often priced 30% to 50% higher than Accu-Cut. They lack the ability to generate bore perpendicularity or establish bore position, which creates scrap/losses and increases your costs. Competitive tooling also has limitations on the amount of stock that can be removed per tool without reciprocating, which requires you to use more tool passes or incur longer cycle times.

SUPERIOR ENGINEERING, LONGEST LASTING TOOLS

INTELLIGENT MACHINES

ACCU-CUT

Accu-Cut machines feature intelligent, torque-sensing technology to automatically modulate speeds and feeds to optimize performance.  When used with Accu-Cut’s robust tool designs, the Accu-Cut process will automatically detect higher incoming stock and apply immediate corrective action to process parts safely, which protects against machine crashes and prevents downtime.

THE COMPETITION

Competitive reciprocating and single pass honing processes have tight restrictions on incoming stock due to the use of small crystals and poor chip management in their tool designs.  They are usually hydraulically controlled without intelligent feedback. Without machine intelligence, they often require presorting of parts in order to prevent crashes.  This incurs additional cost and creates scrap/losses.

ACCU-CUT

Accu-Cut machines enable the use of multiple feeds, speeds, and pulses throughout a cycle to provide ultimate tool control for complex bores and tighter tolerances.  Controlling the tool is critical to honing high quality bores.  Without proper control, you may experience issues with taper, roundness, straightness, and surface finish; which results in scrap/losses.

THE COMPETITION

Competitive honing processes have limited tool control, which compromises the ability to produce high quality parts.

PROGRAMMABLE MACHINES

FLEXIBLE MACHINES, BUILT TO LAST

ACCU-CUT

Accu-Cut machines are automotive duty, built to run 24/7 for 20+ years.  They usually outlast the life of the program and can easily be retooled to handle new applications, which reduces your long term costs.  Over 70% of all Accu-Cut machines over 15 years old are still in operation.

THE COMPETITION

Competitive honing machines are often built to handle a single type of application without much flexibility for retool.

ACCU-CUT

Accu-Cut machines are customized to give you the best turnkey solution for your budget.  We offer automatic load/unload, robotic sorting/handling, in-process/post-process gaging, automatic tool compensation, as well as other features.  Accu-Cut also offers Allen-Bradley and Siemens programming, such that all process control parameters are in a conversational format, not a programming language.  Additionally, our machines can handle straight honing oil or water-based coolants, depending on what you require and what is best for your application.  Accu-Cut builds a process to achieve your specific goals.

THE COMPETITION

Competitive honing may not be able to offer all of these options because they may not fit in their pre-built machines.  They typically use burdensome G-code, which is not user friendly and is not easily adaptable for program changes.  Competitive honing often requires the use of their brand of honing oil or you risk invalidating their machine warranty.  Unfortunately, their honing oils perform poorly in many applications and compromise tool life and finished bore quality, which increases your costs.
